Avatar the next Titanic tops the box office with $73 Million.

James Cameron's "Avatar" a science fiction movie composed of 3D animation, live footage and visual effects tops the #1 spot in theaters this weekend with a record $73 Million in U.S. and Canada ticket sales.
"Avatar" is Cameron's latest movie since "Titanic" and ranks among the most expensive ever made with an estimated budget of $230 Million.
Personally before the movie was released I estimated that the movie will generate around $300Million in theaters. But with the opening weekend the movie took almost one third of my estimate and from all the buzz this movie is receiving I think the ticket sales will be in the $450 Million to $500 Million.
